1. Make sure the printer is turned OFF.

Look for the ON/OFF button on the left side of the printer, then make sure the printer turned OFF.

2. Print out diagnostics

Locate the FEED button on the front of the printer. Hold the FEED button and the printer ON at the same time. Keep holding the button for 5 seconds.

The printer will now print 2-4 receipts, and locate the one labelled "Star IFBD-HI01X/02X". At the bottom of the receipt, look for the IP Address.

If you cannot find this receipt, please check out our troubleshooting guide here.

3. Connect to the printer

Find a computer and make sure you are connected to the same network as the printer. Open a browser and enter the IP Address found on the receipt.

4. Log in

Once the page has loaded, look for "Login" under "System Access".

Login in with the following:

Username: root
Password: public

5. If you have not done so before, activate TCP Keep-Alive

Find "TCP Keep-Alive" under System Configuration.

Select on ENABLE then click on Submit > "Save" at the bottom.
Then mark "Save → Configuration printing → Restart device" and click on Execute

The printer will now restart. You may need to login again (step 4) to proceed.

6. Click on "Firmware Update", then click on "Check for Updates"

7. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Download"

The update will now begin. It should take just a couple of minutes, please do not turn off the printer while it is updating.

If it takes a long time to update and you are not redirected to a new page please look for a message at the bottom.

If it says "Connection to Star Micronics Cloud not available" at the bottom, then you have to update from a local file. Click the button below for more information:
