1. Make sure the printer is turned OFF.
Look for the ON/OFF button on the left side of the printer, then make sure the printer turned OFF.

2. Print out diagnostics
Locate the FEED button on the front of the printer. Hold the FEED button and the printer ON at the same time. Keep holding the button for 5 seconds.
The printer will now print 2-4 receipts, and locate the one labelled "Star IFBD-HI01X/02X". At the bottom of the receipt, look for the IP Address.

3. Connect to the printer
Find a computer and make sure you are connected to the same network as the printer. Open a browser and enter the IP Address found on the receipt.

4. Log in
Once the page has loaded, look for "Login" under "System Access".
Login in with the following:
Username: root
Password: public
Â
5. If you have not done so before, activate TCP Keep-Alive
Find "TCP Keep-Alive" under System Configuration.
Select on ENABLE then click on Submit > "Save" at the bottom.
Then mark "Save → Configuration printing → Restart device" and click on Execute.Â
 The printer will now restart. You may need to login again (step 4) to proceed.

6. Click on "Firmware Update"
7. Click on "from a local file."

8. Download the update file (v1.5.0)
9. Under "Update from file" click on "Browse..." and select the update file
The update will now begin. It should take just a couple of minutes, please do not turn off the printer while it is updating.
